Henlo!

My name is Graysheil Frae Runes, but I really prefer to be called Grey as it is easier to spell, and it sounds cool whenever I’m around people. Born and raised in the city of Pines, Baguio City, Philippines. I am currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Communication, and I wish to venture out into the world of Public Relations or Advertising. Apart from using my creative wits on aesthetically appealing layouts or creative outputs, this program has also molded me to become the person I am today.

Even before, I have always seen myself expressing myself through creative means, particularly in visual arts. I enjoy anything visible art-related, most especially painting and digital arts. I am the stereotypical person everyone looks at weirdly for always carrying a small sketchbook, a traveler’s watercolor set, and drawing mediums anywhere we go, but never really get to use it all the time. However, I try not to limit myself to this, so I tried partaking in different skillsets in this program. And so far, I really have enjoyed creating and editing video animations, publication materials, and even a bit of writing.

I am proud to say that I can explore more of my potential during my college years and not just limit myself in my tiny bubble. Everyone always encourages me to step out of my comfort zone and try out new things because this is how we train ourselves to live life to the fullest. I also try not to limit my learning to just the four corners of a “virtual” classroom, and even at home, so I take every learning opportunity offered. I am trying to enrich my skills in utilizing Adobe software such as Adobe Illustrator and InDesign as I am already familiar with using Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and Lightroom. I want to be adapted as possible as this software is an asset needed in the real world, especially in the field I am venturing on.

To add more to it, I have explored many more paths that I did not think I would be confident to do. I have joined organizations, webinars, events, contests and even represented SLU and the Philippines in a recent international event. How exciting and proud I am to have given my part and participated in all of those? I did not think that it’s all possible when you believe in yourself.

Currently, I am a Cartoonist for our school’s publication, Stellaris. I also share my creativity and skills by being a Graphic Designer and part of the Social Media and Management Team of our Department’s organization, Mass Communication Society. Lastly, I also share my creativity on the internet by sharing my illustrations from time to time.

In my downtime, I write in my journal, do a page or two in my “scrapbook-like” journal, read books or mangas, draw using my traditional sketchbook or using my pen display and laptop, binge on true crime stories or anime, and listen to different podcasts and music on Spotify.

With the ever so fast-paced world we live in, I always put in my head to work at my own pace and not rush things because this life is not a competition. I need to take a breather once in a while. I’ve always seen myself being productive, keeping my mind off my worries and dark thoughts by drowning myself in workload, which is not healthy. So I want to try something new and set aside some time to breathe and keep my mind at peace.
